Madison Square Park Penthouse

Our clients chose this duplex Penthouse space unfinished with the idea of using refined materials against a Danish modern sensibility. The moment you open the front door, the cantilevered staircase appears like a sculpture that draws you in, past bronze surround doors with a high gloss lacquered finish and across 12” plank oak Dinesen floors. The Travertine walls conceal a steel assembly that suspends the 6′ wide plank steps. A yacht builder was brought in to create the curved glass balustrade which was then fit to a sculpted oak railing following a complex curve upward. Quartzite countertops and niches, bleached walnut cabinetry with polished nickel surrounds, and storage cabinets clad in white leather are just a few of the Kitchen’s exquisite features. In Her Bathroom, carved stone floors inlaid with nickel lead to cast glass sinks, an inset vanity, and an elongated medicine cabinet with bolection profile. A “forming” skylight in the Terrace-level Living Room is the room’s enchanting focal point. The Terrace itself has a fully equipped chef’s kitchen, a retractable roofed pergola, and extensive landscaping. The materials define this stunning apartment, which is both classic and sedately modern.
